Tapio Tapiovaara (1908-1982) was a Finnish painter, illustrator and set designer. He studied at the Drawing School of the Finnish Art Society in 1935-1936. During his career, Tapiovaara designed numerous book covers and illustrated poems by Edith Södergran, among others. He also once worked as an assistant to the political magazine Tulenkantajat ("The Flame Bearers"). Tapiovaara came from an artistic family: his brother Nyrki was a film director and his other brother Ilmari was known as a designer and interior designer.
